Our Pets - Taco and Mac
Birds of a Feather B&B does not normally allow guests to bring their pets - although we have made a few exceptions on a case by case basis; please ask us. The entire 2nd floor is dedicated to the B&B guests. We live on the 1st floor.
Our own pets are Taco and Mac and never go in to the B&B areas.
Taco came back with us in February 2010 from La Paz, Mexico; a real Mexican Chihuahua!
She receives compliment after compliment about how friendly she is from an ongoing stream of guests! We had no idea that Chihuahuas have a reputation for not being very nice. She is well liked by children and people of all ages. It's almost as though she is thankful for everyday she is with us. What a happy little wagger!
Mac is our Manx Cat. She had her 16th birthday in 2011, which equals a "million" human years, so we ask that you be gentle with her. On that note however, she loves attention and will quickly become your best friend in exchange for some cuddles. She likes to play hostess and often will greet guests in the driveway. Don't expect her to help with your luggage though!
Mac lives in our garage so our guests will not have to be concerned with allergies and such.
Guests brining their own Pets - Dogs only.
We generally do not permit guests to bring their own pets out of respect for our other guests. We do, however, consider each request to bring a dog - sorry no cats as they spray, claw, etc.) on a case by case basis as follows:
- Send us an email victoria@birdsofafeather.ca telling us about your pet. Please include details about hair and shedding.
- Your pet must be crate trained.
- Your pet must not go on to the furniture - this includes sleeping on the bed.
- Damage deposit of $145 ... if we find any hair or any other evidence of your dog having been on the bed we will be using your damage deposit to bring all bedding including the comforter and pillows to the dry cleaners.
- Extra cleaning charge of $65.00 - this is our cost to bring in a cleaner specifically for this so the next guest is not affected
- Minimum stay 2 nights
- If you can meet these requirements we will consider your dog.

If we approve this in principal we would then next contact guests with existing bookings to get their approval.
NB. future guest reservations for other rooms for the same time period as your stay will then also be made aware of your pet before they book.
