Organizers of the 2008 Tall Ships Festival have landed the Eagle
The three-masted barque from the U.S. Coast Guard has confirmed its participation in the festival, set for June 26-29 — a coup because the vessel is a Class A type, which means it’s one of the biggest tall ships.
Anchoring one or more Class A vessels is critical to drawing crowds, John Anderson, festival chairman, said yesterday. “The Eagle is a big ship with lots of mast and lots of sail. Those are the kind of vessels that draw people to the water.”

Over the refurbished bar, the Six Mile now carries 22 draught beers, a to-die-for bellini and numerous signature cocktails. The completely renovated kitchen also means the hungry can feed off a menu that now boasts wholesome foods including a tantalizing selection of tapas and AAA steaks.
While preserving the heritage look and feel of this historical landmark, the Six Mile have simultaneously undergone some much welcome amenity upgrades. Our renewed riverside patio with its gazebo and glorious flower boxes, overlooking Millstream, can only be described as “magical”. The interior is nicely appointed with furnishings and fixtures you would expect of a fine neighbourhood pub. It is, after all, the living room of the neighbourhood. For a quick walk down memory lane one can also admire the many old black and white photographs of days gone by, that adorn the walls of the inviting entrance way.
