Birds of a Feather

It’s official! After 33 days of voting, Birds of a Feather took home first place in CHEK CItyHUB’s “Hotels and B&Bs” category. And not only were we voted “Most Loved” bed and breakfast in Victoria, but we also beat out 57 other bed and breakfasts, hotels and cabins to be named “Most Loved” accommodation.

CityHUB is an interactive virtual community showcasing Victoria’s most-loved businesses. From September 12 to October 15, over 49,000 people nominated and voted for their favourite places to dine, shop, play and stay. There were 2,500 nominees in 22 categories, and over 370,000 votes were cast. Eighty-five percent of the votes came from Victoria, but votes came in from 290 cities around the world—as far away as Auckland, New Zealand!

The majority of voters came to CityHUB via businesses they already loved and trusted, whether it was through their websites, newsletters or Facebook and Twitter pages. In fact, one-third of votes came from Facebook links! It was a truly community-driven campaign that shows just how important social media is to businesses—a campaign we’re proud to be a part of.

Next up is the launch of CityHUB’s searchable, interactive virtual city on November 7th. It’ll act as a comprehensive insider’s guide to Victoria, making it easier than ever to access information and specials from your favourite businesses. The website will even be mobile-friendly so you can stay in the loop at any time, from any place.
