Winery Tour Cobble Hill & Cowichan Bay
Enjoyed a full day with our B&B guests, Eric and Shannon combining an off-road Hummer adventure together with a small winery and cheese tour. We explored Old Renfrew Rd. on the far side of Shawnigan Lake. About 20 km in off one of the logging roads we drove to the top of one of the mountains and stopped for a picnic overlooking a canopy of forest and hills for as far as the eye could see. It was such a clear day we got a glimpse of Mt. Baker percfectly cntered between 2 green mountain as well as some of the snow-capped mountain tops of the Vancouver to Squamish mountain range. The warm air, the quiet, the hawk circling just beside us and the company made for an amazing trek in to the "back 40"
We made our way to Merridale Ciderworks and Bistro. Wow! What a beautiful place. We did a cider tasting and neither ourselves nor our guests needed any further convincing to bring a few bottles home. We then headed over to Cherry Point Vineyards where we enjoyed more tasting and again both ourselves and our guests bought a few bottles. We didn't eat at either Bistro but looking at the menus and experiencing the ambience of both places we know we are going back for lunch! Butternut Pear soup - we can't wait!
Next stop Cowichan Bay where we stopped in at Hilary's Cheese and bought some artisan cheese. A huge and tasty selection to choose from. We walked through the village and checked out Pier 66 and the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre
We love this quaint seaside village just 35 minutes north of Victoria. Good fun and new friends! An awesome day all around!
