Victoria JazzFest
Welcome all to the 22nd annual JazzFest International in Victoria! Starting with an operating budget of $10,000 in 1985, the Victoria Jazz Society presented a three-day-long weekend festival with eight performances at one venue, Market Square. Today the festival has grown to a 10-day event presented on multiple stages in our city.
Over the past 21 years JazzFest International has introduced Victorians to thousands of the biggest and best names in jazz, blues and world music… Dizzy Gillespie and the United Nation Orchestra, Ornette Coleman, the Sun Ra Arkestra, McCoy Tyner, Betty Carter, Joe Henderson, John McLaughlin, Jimmy Scott, Frank Morgan, Johnny Griffin, Dave Brubeck, Salif Keita, Youssou N’Dour, Blind Boys of Alabama, and Buddy Guy to name only a few … it’s truly an amazing list. JazzFest has also nurtured and outreached to local music students through one of the VJS’s Outreach Programs in which workshops/clinics are conducted by internationally recognized artists.
