Moonstruck Organic Cheese
Cheesemaker Julia Grace and farm manager Susan Grace have been teaming up and making beautiful cheese on Saltspring Island since 1998. Their company, Moonstruck Organic Cheese, milks a small herd of pampered purebred Jersey cows. The company believes the healthier and happier the cows are, the more sweet and fragrant their certified organic milk will be. With that milk they produce cheese in a way that preserves as much of its unique flavour as possible. Some of the cheeses they make include ash-ripened Camembert and Baby Blue, which won medals at a cheese competition on the Isle of Jersey, and White Grace, described as an English peasant cheese that pairs well with almost any wine. Their cheese shop is open year-round with longer hours from April through October. They also have this wonderful blue cheese that they soak in a blackberry port for 24 hours.
