Camille's

camilles.jpg

Camille's restaurant is located in the heart of 'old town' in the revitalized Bastion Square. We have been hard at work for twenty successful years, thanks in part to the generous recommendations from many hotels and bed and breakfast establishments. This year we hope to work even more closely together and ensure that visitors to Victoria enjoy the best food, service and hospitality available.

Our restaurant is a unique combination of fine dining with a comfortable, casual atmosphere. The menu is diverse, with many specials including vegetarian food, fresh seafood, and wild game. We are proud to utilize as many fresh local ingredients as possible and we prepare our dishes in a health-conscious full flavored style. Candlelight, soft blues and jazz and a talented staff supply the atmosphere. For those who love wine, our list is extensive with truly great and affordable wines.

In addition to our ever changing weekly seasonal menu we also offer a five-course tasting menu. The chef's menu is $50 and may be ordered with wine pairings for each course for an additional $25. This menu changes daily and is a great way to try a variety of tastes and textures in smaller portions.

Four Mile House Restaurant

Upscale fare combines worldly dishes with a distinctively West coast element. Using the freshest ingredients, herbs from their own garden, and organic products from local suppliers, this restaurant satisfies many dietary choices. Four Mile’s wine cellar has all the elements to entice any wine lover. Featuring wines from B.C. and around the world, they offer a modest selection to match any choice off the menu, or to just be enjoyed on its own.
The Four Mile Restaurant has been serving Vancouver Island travellers fabulous fare for over 100 years. Housed within a 150 year- old tudor style building located just outside downtown Victoria, the Four Mile House Restaurant features the charm and elegance of an olde English Inn.

Enjoy the gourmet tastes of the West Coast in a spectacular waterfront setting at the Marina Restaurant. Oak Bay is on the south-east side of downtown Victoria. The award-winning Marina Restaurant is a local favourite for delicious seafood and continental cuisine, and legendary for Sunday Brunch. Markus Wharfside Restaurant Sooke

markus.jpg

Markus’ Wharfside Restaurant, located just off West Coast Road in Sooke is a few steps from the Government Dock. Highly-inspired and authentic Mediterranean cuisine is served six days a week. Proprietor, head chef and restaurant’s namesake Markus Wieland and his wife Tatum, opened for business in November 2003. The former house, then retail shop, has been transformed over four months into an unadorned but still eye-catching dining room. Everyone of the nine, white table clothed tables offers jaw-dropping views of Sooke Harbour, Whiffin Spit, Juan de Fuca Strait and the Olympic Mountains. Reservations are recommended. This is one of Dieter and Annette's favourite restaurants. You'll hear us often recommend Markus' to our guests at our breakfast table.

Matisse - Classical French Cooking

matisse_restaurant.jpg

For classic French cuisine served on Villeroy Boch china and excellent service, look no further than this little restaurant where — hallelujah — cellphones are not permitted. Don’t visit here to eat; this is a place to dine. Indulge your inner gourmand with duck confit garnished with lentils and rhubarb compote or the superb rillettes made with pork belly, and follow with filet mignon bordelaise or braised lamb paired with demi glace enriched with fines herbes, red wine and calvados. Finish with tarte tatin or handmade truffles. Prices are reasonable and set menus even more of a bargain with four courses at $49, with pairings from the excellent wine list available for an additional $30. Quamichan Fine Dining (Duncan)

quamichan_restaurant.jpg

A 50 minute drive from Birds of a Feather B&B but well worth it. Also an ideal place to stop for dinner if heading back to Victoria from an up-island drive. We personally recommend having an incredible dinner at this quiet, relaxing country Inn ... just a little off the beaten path. Please note their menu is ever changing.

Here is a testimonial from a guest which sums it all up:

"Onion soup was 2nd best we've ever had, the apple-butternut squash bisque was even better. On to the mains, which we had elk with plum compote (very nice and innovative!) and a salmon steak special. 2 big coho steaks, smothered in fresh local clams. So good! The surprises didn't end there, the lemon tart & ginger ice cream was a big hit, especially the ginger ice cream. All of the food they cook is seasoned just enough to let the main ingredients shine through and nothing is very greasy/oily. We were fully, fully stuffed, but it was perhaps the first time we were at that point and felt fine afterwards. The next morning left us hungry and hankering for more, which is a fine testament to the quality of the ingredients and the cooking.

This is worth a return visit, even from Vancouver. If you're from Victoria or Nanaimo, you'd be crazy not to make a stop. Just be sure to have a reservation."
