Craig Street Brew Pub Duncan

One of our favourite places to eat when heading north of Victoria. Normally an easy 40 minute drive to Duncan, a city known for its native arts centre and totem poles placed throughout the city - especially downtown near the train station. From homemade burgers to garlic prawns to pasta and seafood dishes everything is made with care and attention to detail. Very reasonably priced. The Craig Street Brew Pub serves their own skillfully crafted beers, made right on the premises by Brew Master Chris Gress. You can purchase it by the glass, pint, pitcher or if you are wanting to sample each beer you can purchase the Toolbox. The 1940’s building has been newly renovated and you will be greeted by a warm interior full of large exposed timbers. There is a street side patio plus a rooftop deck for outdoor seating. There is a 100 year old antique bar, and a more intimate area of the main floor that features a stage for live music and a real wood burning fireplace. This room is highlighted by the wonderful paintings of the Valley’s very own EJ Hughes, one of Canada’s most celebrated artists. Up the spectacular wood staircase, you’ll pass the brew house behind 2 stories of glass. The mezzanine level features historical photos of Duncan and a high definition TV.

Four Mile House Pub

Four Mile Pub is an English style pub located just outside downtown Victoria which draws a large local clientele as well as a crowd from downtown Victoria. The upscale pub fare combines old world style with a distinctively west coast influence. It boasts 16 beers on tap, an extensive wine and scotch list as well as a year round patio.

One of the best known and most picturesque landmarks of its day in Victoria, Four Mile is the fourth oldest house in Victoria’s history. At that early time, the Victoria stage coaches struggled up the tough Four Mile Hill on the way to Sooke and up island places.

A nice neighbourhood pub, the Waterwheel Pub is located off of Goldstream Ave in Langford. An airy and bright spot with none of the dark dinginess you might associate with pubs. A pool table upstairs, hearty and reasonably priced pub food and a casual and comfortable decor. The prime rib steak sandwich is alwasy tender. The pulled BBQ pork rib sandwich is a favourite with the regulars. Other standard pub grub all reasonably priced and tasty.

Local Bands often play here on the weekends.
