Intense 3 week teaching schedule
Fri, 03/07/2008 - 13:18 — dieterWith an intense 3 week teaching schedule at Royal Roads, Birds of a Feather is a perfect retreat after a long day of teaching. With it’s view of the lagoon, the campus and the Strait of Juan de Fuca it provides a tranquil setting to reset your mind. The rooms have kitchenettes and all the ammenities you need for the three weeks and have the added bonus of a 20 minute walk through the old growth forest to campus. I have enjoyed my stay here and would gladly stay again for next years residency.
Saved a bundle on restaurants and didn't need a car
Sun, 03/16/2008 - 09:23 — dieterI wanted to thank you, Dieter and Annette for the wonderful 3 weeks at Birds of a Feather. The luxurious accommodation provided everything I needed, and more, while attending Royal Roads. The room was quiet with lots of space and a great set up for working on my computer. The oversize tub and super comfortable bed was very much appreciated after long days of sitting in a classroom. What a pleasure to wake up in the morning and watch the gorgeous sun rise over the water. I was able to prepare all my own meals and being within walking distance to campus was a real bonus. I saved a bundle on restaurants and didn’t need a car! I would highly recommend Birds of a Feather to anyone who is attending residency at Royal Roads, as well as to anyone who just wants to spend a few luxurious evenings on the Island.
High speed internet
Mon, 01/28/2008 - 20:43 — dieterHaving stayed at Birds of a Feather on vacation, it was natural for me to choose the location for my stay during the first residency of my Royal Roads MBA program. The location is very close to school, so not far to drive when the library closes at 10! As well, it gave me a space away from school to reflect and recharge - and with the high speed internet and Skype it was like I was in the residency with the rest of my team!.
Fabulous place to stay, great rooms, and great location - will be back for res 2!
Eliminated the anxiety about the whole school thing
Wed, 01/16/2008 - 09:52 — dieterI stayed at Birds of a Feather for 3 weeks in Nov/Dec for the first of two 2 Royal Roads grad program residencies. I preferred to stay off-campus for a little privacy, but I had no idea how good my decision would ultimately be. Birds of a Feather is very conveniently located - about a 5 minute drive from campus. Their suites are so incredibly comfortable: modern, clean, quiet, and are stocked with every helpful amenity you can think of. The reliable high speed wireless internet was especially helpful as a student. The serene and picturesque location was the perfect backdrop to our scholastic experience. Dieter and Annette are extremely organized and helpful – they have a great sense of humour, make you feel immediately comfortable in their home, and they really do make wonderful breakfasts! I would recommend their B&B to anyone – but especially to RRU students or faculty looking for the perfect place to call home for their stay. I booked for next year before checking-out this year!
Conveniently located near RRU
Sun, 12/16/2007 - 08:55 — dieterAs I pursue my Master of Arts in Professional Communication, my schedule of studies at Royal Roads University includes two annual on-campus sessions. It was a pleasure to stay at Birds of a Feather Bed & Breakfast for my first three-week session. I enjoyed the wonderful suite and the terrific, quiet setting which is conveniently located near the RRU campus. I am definitely returning next year for my second session.

Truly a "Bachelor's" Study Pad !
Thu, 01/03/2008 - 19:09 — dieterIn February of 2007, my colleague and I were excited to begin our undergraduate bachelor of commerce program at RRU; however, we were not too excited about the dorm life. As mature students, and both of us with families, we were accustomed to the comforts of home. Birds of a Feather provided us just such a place. A short drive to the campus, we could engage in classes during the day, and even come home for a quick lunch, and make it back in time to finish the day of classes. Afterwards we often retreated to the waterfront to reflect on the days activities. Very conducive to after-class studies, the peace and quiet of our room with panoramic views provided us the environment we needed. Of course, we were often caught up in the luxurious amenities of our room including the gas fireplace, large LCD TV, and DVD player, while sippin’ on a cold brew. Keeping connected with your workplace and families is important for times like these, and our wireless internet connection made it simple for us to stay in touch. We’ve booked again for 2008 residency, and look forward to our stay at Bird of a Feather as a highlight of our trip.
Found the location to the campus very convenient
Sun, 11/04/2007 - 17:19 — adminMy recent stay at Birds of a Feather was a great experience. As a new student to Royal Roads University I found the location to the campus very convenient. The suite is well designed with an incredible view and all the amenities I needed. The weather created some challenges with lots of snow and a power outage. Dieter and Annette were excellent hosts providing everything I needed including flashlights! I recommend the Birds of a Feather for a long term stay for studies or for a short term stay for vacationing
